Mrs Baughton is an elderly pensioner of Shropshire who disappeared shortly after John Coles, dating this to occur before the Event, and after 2 June, 1984 (the day John disappeared). During the conversation scene between Frank Appleton and Dr Phil Wade in the white house in the Appleton Farm area, it was mentioned that she had her leg amputated last spring - making her disappearance more incredulous.

Chronologically, Barbara Foster alerts Dr Phil Wade to a call from the village that Mrs Baughton has disaapeared while Dr Phil was investigating the trailer of John Foster with Elizabeth "Lizzie" Graves. The first mention of her occurs during the Jeremy act when walking to the first roadblock triggers the discussion of Dr Phil Wade and Barbara Foster musing that Mrs Baughton may have walked out of Yaughton before the roadblock came into effect.
